Forensic Division

It is fully accredited by the Joint Commission. About 175 employees work at the Forensic Division, many of whom provide 24-hour services and care to patients designated to the facility.

Admissions are scheduled after the division receives an order and supporting documents from a New Mexico District Court. No waiting list is maintained.

Once they are admitted to the facility, patients meet their treatment team, which is made up of a psychiatrist and a general practitioner, nursing staff, and a social worker. Individuals will also meet their assigned psychologist, who is responsible for conducting the court-ordered evaluations and working with the referring district courts.

Other services, such as occupational therapy, physical therapy and psychosocial rehabilitation, are provided as needed.

The Forensic Division also provides inpatient sex offender treatment through a program known as STOP. It serves individuals who are referred by court order or as a condition of their probation and parole. The average length of stay at the STOP program is 12 to18 months. A full range of treatment services is provided and are consistent with current standards of practice.
